Answers to common questions about registered massage therapy at Nova Restore Wellness in Metrotown, Burnaby: booking, ICBC, direct billing, what to expect and more.
No. You can book registered massage therapy directly, including after a car accident under an ICBC claim. Some insurance plans ask for a doctor’s note to reimburse you, so it is worth checking your policy, but you do not need one to make an appointment.
Most weeks we have appointments available within a few days, and we usually keep some space for people in acute pain. Send a request with your preferred times and we will call you back to confirm.
Yes. Tell us who you would like to see when you book and we will schedule you with them. If you are new, say what you are coming in for and we will match you with whoever fits best.
We direct bill most major extended health plans. Bring your policy details on your first visit and we will confirm your coverage and bill your insurer directly for the covered portion.
Yes. We treat ICBC claims and bill ICBC directly. Bring your claim number and the date of the accident, and no doctor’s referral is needed to start.
Usually only the portion your plan does not cover, which we can tell you before treatment. Within your pre-approved ICBC visits there is normally nothing to pay at the clinic.
We give you a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurer for reimbursement. We accept debit and all major credit cards.
Your therapist asks about your health history and what is bothering you, does a short assessment, then treats. You do not need to prepare anything except your insurance or ICBC details.
Whatever is comfortable. You will be given privacy to change and you stay covered with sheets through the whole session.
Only as much as you are comfortable with. Draping keeps everything covered except the area being treated, and plenty of effective work can be done through clothing if you prefer.
It depends on why you are coming. For a specific injury or chronic pain, more often at first and then tapering off usually works. For general stress and maintenance, whatever fits your life. Your therapist will suggest a realistic rhythm.
It should not be. Deeper work can feel intense in a good way, and pressure is always adjustable — tell your therapist at any point and they will ease off.
After deeper treatment you may feel sore for a day, similar to after exercise. Drink water, keep moving gently, and let us know at your next visit how you responded.
Tell us your preference when you book and we will schedule you accordingly. [Confirm the current therapists’ details before publishing.]
